Fly For Less

2007/02/09
Since the Photoshop workshop I mentioned before has been relocated from Hamburg to Munich at short date, some travel will be necessary. There were not enough bookings for the course in Hamburg, so the academy called me and offered to enroll me for the Munich course instead, which is taking place from April 23rd to 25th. Lots of time to go, but it's okay. Plus, three nights at a bed & breakfast are included in the course price now. How nice.

As I was looking for flights to Munich, I ran into something even nicer. There are a couple of these low-cost airlines that regularly place campaigns for 0-Euro-tickets, but I never thought one could get one of these in reality. But when I looked for my flight at Germanwings, I found this offer: HAM - MUC: 5 Euro(!), MUC - HAM: 0 Euro(!!) - and these were exactly the flight times that I needed! Of course, the usual taxes and fees have to be added, which results in about 65 Euro for the whole trip. Still, that's dirt cheap and because of that, I instantly booked it. How can they keep selling tickets at these insane prices, literally giving them away for free?

The flight to Munich is leaving at 6:50am on Sunday, and flight time is just about one hour. Imaging this: I am pretty much going from the very north of Germany to the very south. This country never felt so small before. :-) Since I'll arrive at 8am and will likely be in town at around 10am or so, I got a full day to spend in Munich before going to the course on Monday. Since I've never been to Munich before, I guess it's a great chance to see the city.

I kind of don't understand...probably because I'm tired and retarded...Anyway, You got a great price, while in the US you still pay over 200 bucks for a tourist class ticket :-( So, I have to save a whole year to go to Hawaii. Congrats and looking forward for you Munich Pictures. P.S. isn't that amazing that one person never knows the whole country where they live...I don't even know Las Vegas :-) (ask me about the East, I almost know it all)

Pablo: Still safer than driving.

Cathy: Yeah, there are so many places in Germany that I don't know. Somebody once asked me if I knew a good hotel in Berlin, and I had to say, "I've never been to Berlin actually". I felt stupid. I was in Berlin for the first time in 2005. It's a great city.

I guess airplane tickets in America are considerably more expensive because the distances are bigger.

Karthik: ;-)
